Within the framework of cooperation protocol established between VOST Portugal and ANEPC, VOST Portugal was present at the pilgrimage to Fatima on May 13, 2022.
The initial idea would be to test in a real-life scenario the management platform for large-scale events (CONFIRM), developed by VOST Portugal, as well as centralize, in a single platform, the information collected by the various entities, similar to what VOST Portugal has done in events such as the Rally Portugal or Baja de Portalegre, where there is already a methodology that involves the security direction of evidence, Civil Protection, GNR, and INEM.
This initial idea, and with the introduction into the operational working group of the Pilgrim's Foot Support Commission of the Message of Fatima Movement, the project has evolved and a system has been set up to monitor the groups of pilgrims, in a separate channel, the creation of the figure of “Digital Pilgrims” to obtain real-time information on these groups, and a public map of support for registered reception facilities.
Although the communication of this initiative, to the target audience, was late and it is a target audience that is not digital native, the results were quite positive.
Groups
Pilgrims
In total 64 groups of pilgrims were followed, a total of 1,634 people. The proper channel created for the digital pilgrims, was a space of encounter, dialogue, and help, in a proof that where there is added value for the user, the user has no problems adapting to a new technology.
Use of the CONFIRM platform
The operationalisation of the CONFIRM platform was tested in a real-life scenario and its potential for such events was recognised.
The platform will also be improved, counting on the feedback received, so that it is increasingly a reference tool.
